What is the primary purpose of your business? The primary goal of our business is to show our support for the men and women in our military. Because of their com-mitments, their sacrifices and their love for this country we are able to live as free, proud Americans. What is your business background? I have worked in retail for several years and in the tax industry for 10+ years. Tony has worked in the manufacturing industry for 20+ years. I was also in the Army Reserves for two years. Why did you start this particular business? www.MilitaryMomz.com was founded by a single military mom. As the mother of a soldier, a former US Army reservist and as an American, I fully support our troops and so does my husband. While we know many people may not support the war in Iraq, our troops are still there fighting in order for us to keep the American dream alive here at home. I want our troops to know that we are behind them and support them no matter what the many different views may be on the war. They are out there making sacrifices every day for us. We decided we wanted to help. No service man or woman should have to worry about their family being taken care of here while they are in Iraq or Afghanistan. What makes your business unique? We are unique in the sense that we plan on donating 50% of all profits to organizations that assist the troops and their families. We also have a goal of selling 100,000 flag pins by November 1, 2008. In a previous interview, I was asked why this date and I think subconsciously we had set this date because we wanted to meet the goal before our son and daughter-in-law left for Iraq. They were scheduled to leave in late November, although that date has since changed and they will now be leaving at the end of September. What do you enjoy most about your chosen profession? The satisfaction that comes with knowing we are helping others, especially our soldiers and their families. Due to having a large close knit family, my son and his wife have a large support group and we want to share that with other soldiers who may not be as fortunate. What has been the biggest or most interesting challenge to overcome as a small business owner? Our biggest obstacle has been getting our site recognized. Since we run the business out of our home and not with a normal storefront, we have had to be creative in our advertising and getting the word spread around about our site. We have recently obtained some corporate sponsors which is new for us and something we are looking at pursuing further. It is nice to know that we are helping to promote other businesses as they assist us in attaining our goal. Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers? We would like to ask that everyone purchase a flag pin (they are only $3.95 and that includes shipping and handling) and tell everyone they know and help us reach our goal and wear your pin with pride every day. We also sell t-shirts, bracelets, etc. but we really are dedicated to meeting our goal. THE FACTS:
